Florattica and Canopy by Hilton London City: Where East London Comes Alive
The team at Consommé was hosted by Canopy by Hilton London City for the purposes of this review. All opinions and experiences are our own.
In East London, where history hums beneath modern streets and creativity seems to spill from every corner, Canopy by Hilton London City has found its rhythm. This boutique hotel offers more than just a place to rest; it’s a living, breathing neighbourhood hub where local heritage, thoughtful design, and vibrant dining intertwine seamlessly. From the moment you step into the lobby, the energy of East London is tangible: artwork inspired by the area’s history and diversity lines the walls, textures and colours echo the neighbourhood’s past, and every detail feels carefully considered yet welcoming.

Rooms are a study in understated luxury, contemporary yet cosy, with nods to the city. Whether you’re unwinding after a day of exploring or starting fresh before a night out, each of the 340 rooms across 12 floors is designed to feel like a personal sanctuary. And if you want to explore beyond the hotel. Complimentary Canopy Bikes and nearby transit make it easy to immerse yourself in the local streets, from Spitalfields Market to Tower Bridge.
But it’s the food and drink experience that truly defines a stay here, and it starts with the ground-floor offerings. Penny Square, the hotel’s restaurant, greets guests in the morning with a breakfast spread that balances indulgence and freshness. The buffet features mini croissants, cinnamon rolls from local artisanal bakeries, and a full English breakfast cooked to order, alongside yoghurts, fresh juices, and seasonal fruit. Guests can also select from the à la carte menu for a small added fee. Down the hall, St Clare’s Coffee and Bar offers a quieter, relaxed space for drinks, snacks, or even a nightcap, seamlessly blending work and leisure.
Florattica
As the day fades, attention naturally drifts upward to Florattica, the hotel’s award-winning rooftop bar and one of London’s most exciting evening destinations. Here, the energy of East London pulses through design, drinks, and atmosphere. The bar’s interiors feature silk-inspired and floral installations, paying homage to the Huguenot who shaped the area centuries ago. Warm lighting, plush seating, and attentive service create an intimate but lively environment, where every detail, from the cocktails to the music, feels deliberately curated, just for you.
Florattica’s menu continues the hotel’s commitment to quality and local sourcing. Small plates like crab tortelloni with mussels’ cream, prawns and lobster mini sliders, and sharing boards of charcuterie and cheeses make it a destination for both casual and celebratory dining. The drinks list mirrors the space’s floral inspiration, featuring inventive, precise, and distinctly memorable botanical cocktails.
Florattica
The beauty of Canopy by Hilton London City is how seamlessly the hotel and rooftop bar complement one another. A stay can begin with breakfast at Penny Square, continue with exploration of East London streets or a bike ride along the river, and conclude with cocktails at Florattica, or start with Florattica, as it did in our case, followed by a drink in the lobby bar, a beautiful night’s sleep and finished with a delicious buffet to start the day. The transition from hotel comfort to elevated social energy feels effortless. Each element, from the thoughtful service to the locally inspired menu, reinforces the sense that this is not just a hotel, but a hub for living fully in the neighbourhood – even for just 24 hours.
Whether you’re drawn by the intimate, design-forward interiors, the culinary creativity, or the East London vibe, Canopy by Hilton London City and Florattica together offer a complete experience; one that is authentically local, stylishly modern, and effortlessly enjoyable. It’s a place to stay, to taste, and to celebrate, where every element is woven into a seamless tapestry of hospitality, design, and flavour.
