Brine and Dine. Get Your Tickets Now For Erev’s One-Night-Only Pickle Party
If you’ve ever felt that pickles deserve their own stage, you’re in luck. Notting Hill’s much-loved Eastern Mediterranean restaurant Erev is launching a new supper club series, and its debut, Nightshade: An Evening of Pickles, is an ode to all things brined, preserved, and beautifully funky.
For one night only, on Thursday 23 October, Erev’s head chef Yakup Gundogdu will team up with cult fermentation specialists Eaten Alive to host a hyper-seasonal dinner that celebrates the ancient (and deliciously tangy) art of fermentation. Expect bold, layered flavours and a menu that balances tradition with Erev’s trademark playfulness. Think Lahmacun with Preserved Lemon & Chilli, Short Rib with Smoked Fermented Chilli, and a few closely guarded surprises to round out the night.

The evening is part supper club, part sensory ritual. Guests can graze at the Brinery Bar, a self-serve spread of pickled vegetables and house brines with handwritten tasting notes, and pocket a little knowledge at the Notes from the Brinewall, where Yakup and the Eaten Alive team will share handwritten recipes and preservation tips. There’s even a bespoke Playlist to Pickle To, curated to soundtrack the night’s clinks, crunches, and conversation.
“Erev has always been about community and creativity,” says Yakup. “Nightshade gives us a way to explore those ideas in a more immersive way; each menu will be unrepeatable, rooted in tradition but with a sense of play.”

Meanwhile, Eaten Alive co-founder Pat Bingley hints that fermentation fans are in for a treat: “Fermentation creates amazing depth of flavour as well as being incredible for gut health. The menu for Nightshade is a wonderful exploration of that umami magic, expect dishes you won’t forget anytime soon.”
This dinner marks the start of Erev’s Nightshade series, a run of intimate, one-off menus that delve into seasonal ingredients and the traditions that shape them. If pickles are your love language (or you simply enjoy food with attitude), this is one night worth circling on your calendar.
